WORKSHOPS |
Hip Hop Theater Works
A writing and live performance hands-on workshop, with a day-long format that can be adapted for specific needs and/or time restrictions. Divided into three sessions, it offers participants the opportunity to create and perform rhythmic speech, including “rap” and “spoken-word”, as a tool for effective communication, self-expression, and problem solving. The workshop welcomes all participants interested in spoken performance, including but not limited to rapping, spoken word, acting, poetry, public speaking and crowd persuasion. Through open discussion, creative writing exercises and assigned readings, participants are invited to identify and develop a personal style of rhythmic speech, choose a personal or community cause worth advocating, and to create a short performance to share with the class. Other workshops held by Malik include: Hip Hop Shakespeare, Acting for the Stage, Acting for the Camera, Artist's Way Workshop, Verse: Performance & Composition. |
